Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ionia Media, Inc., doing business as Story Prism ("Story Prism," "we," "our," or "us"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address and password.

User Content

We collect the text content you create, submit, or store within the Service, including notes, prompts, drafts, story materials, project content, and other workspace content.

Document Processing Information

When you upload files such as .pdf, .docx, or .txt files, or import documents through Google Drive, our system processes those files to extract text and generate outputs within the Service.

Google Drive Integration Data

If you choose to connect your Google Drive account, we use the Google Drive API to let you select specific files for import. We only access the files and metadata you explicitly choose to import. We do not access your entire Google Drive.

Extracted and Generated Workspace Data

We may store text extracted from imported documents, structured notes, tags, links between notes, summaries, and AI-generated outputs as part of your project workspace.

Usage and Technical Data

We may collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, log data, and interaction data collected through analytics and monitoring tools.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including to:

  • provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
  • process prompts and workspace context to generate AI-assisted responses and outputs;
  • extract, organize, and structure imported content into notes, tags, summaries, and related project data;
  • power contextual analysis and automated features, including auto-tagging and relationship generation;
  • monitor performance, reliability, errors, latency, and usage;
  • communicate with you about your account, product updates, service messages, and promotional communications, subject to your communication preferences;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms, policies, and rights.

3. Data Ownership and Model Training

Ownership

You retain full ownership of your original content and project materials. Story Prism does not acquire any ownership rights in your work.

No AI Training by Story Prism

We do not use your content, prompts, or processed document text to train our own internal AI models.

Third-Party Model Providers

When you use Story Prism, your prompts and relevant workspace context may be sent to third-party AI model providers solely to generate responses and power requested features. However, provider-specific data practices may differ. The DeepSeek-specific notice below applies only when you explicitly choose a DeepSeek model.

4. Optional DeepSeek Models

DeepSeek models may be offered as an optional feature. This notice applies only if you explicitly choose a DeepSeek model.

If you choose DeepSeek, we will send the prompts, context, and other content needed to complete your request to DeepSeek for processing. DeepSeek's privacy and data-handling practices may differ from those of our other model providers and may include provider-side processing and model improvement uses under DeepSeek's own terms. Because those practices may change over time, you should review DeepSeek's current disclosures before using a DeepSeek model. By selecting a DeepSeek model, you direct us to send the content needed for your request to DeepSeek and acknowledge these additional provider-specific considerations.

Sensitive Data Warning

Do not use DeepSeek models for highly sensitive personal information or for medical, legal, financial, or other high-stakes content.

5. Observability and Usage Monitoring

We use observability and monitoring tools to help us operate and improve the Service. This includes tracking model performance, latency, errors, token usage, and related application telemetry.

We use Langfuse for LLM tracing, debugging, performance monitoring, and token and cost tracking. Depending on the feature and our configuration, Langfuse may process prompts, responses, traces, and metadata associated with model usage.

6. Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, we use third-party service providers and integrations, which may process information on our behalf or in connection with your use of the Service. These may include:

AI Model Providers

OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), and, if you explicitly choose that option, DeepSeek.

Document and File Integrations

Google Drive API, for secure file selection and import.

Cloud Hosting and Storage

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, including Object Storage, to store uploaded files and support related product functionality.

Payment Processing

Stripe.

Analytics and Product Measurement

Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity.

Observability / Monitoring

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Original Documents

Original files you upload, and files you import through Google Drive, may be retained as part of your workspace until you delete them or your account is deleted.

Project Data

Extracted text, generated analyses, notes, summaries, tags, connections, and related workspace data may remain stored as part of your project until you delete them or your account is deleted.

Deletion Requests

You may delete certain project data and uploaded files through the product interface. To request deletion of your account and associated personal data, contact us at jon@storyprism.io.

We may retain certain information as required by law, for legitimate business purposes, to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or maintain security, backup, and fraud-prevention records.

Document Processing Information

When you upload files such as .pdf, .docx, or .txt files, or import documents through Google Drive, our system processes those files to extract text, generate outputs, and support document-related features within the Service.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information during transmission, processing, and storage. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of certain personal data that we collect, use, or retain about you, subject to applicable law and exceptions. You may also have the right to object to certain processing or request a copy of certain personal data we maintain about you.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
